B2B LMS Development for Streamlined Educational Operations

I led the development of a Learning Management System (LMS) for B2B English education institutions. As the lead Product Designer, I enhanced user convenience by streamlining complex administrative tasks and automating repetitive processes. Through user research, UX/UI design, and data collection processes, I helped create an intuitive LMS that enables efficient student management with improved productivity features.

Bulk Account Creation System - Benefiting Both Institutions and B2B Teams

Summary

What was the problem?

  • Account creation delays prevented timely class enrollment when parents had to register directly

  • Institution operators spent excessive time manually creating accounts on the homepage

  • Increased CS inquiries about course period adjustments due to learning delays

  • Over 20% of active institutions requesting bulk account creation from B2B team, reducing sales efficiency

How did we solve it?

  • Provided institution operators with simplified bulk account creation functionality

  • Implemented template system -> Automated account generation through template uploads

  • Added real-time verification and modification features for created accounts

  • Automated account organization and immediate delivery to operators

Results

  1. 85% reduction in account creation time per user (from 6 minutes manual to 1 minute automated)

  2. 70% reduction in CS inquiries related to account creation and learning period extensions

  3. Enhanced B2B team capacity to support more institutions by reducing manual tasks

Overview

What were the challenges?

  • Multiple page transitions required during assignment creation, making the process cumbersome

  • Editing assignment details (books, duration) required multiple steps and back-tracking

  • Book selection was limited by search functionality and restricted options

  • Unable to create multiple assignments with different periods at once, requiring repetitive actions

Here's our solution!

  1. All operations possible on a single screen
    - Set assignment start/end dates, selected books, and additional options in one view
    - Real-time assignment modification and updates without page transitions

  2. Added series-based book selection options
    - Select books by exploring series categories, preferred over search function

  3. Added option to create consecutive assignments
    - Create multiple assignments continuously without repetitive actions

Lessons Learned from Improving the LMS

🔎 The Answer Always Lies in the User’s Voice

By analysing the daily tasks of teachers and institution administrators, and understanding their pain points, we were able to derive effective solutions. This reinforced the idea that a deep understanding of real-world usage contexts is the foundation of good design.

🪄Simplifying the Complex

The LMS required numerous functionalities, but the more complex it was, the simpler we needed to make it. Through this process, I realised that the true value of a complex system lies in how easily users can interact with it.

Through thoughtful design, the B2B team was freed from repetitive tasks and could focus more on building relationships with clients, naturally contributing to business growth. This was another powerful reminder of the impact of design.

I aim to keep asking myself these questions as I continue to grow:

  • How can this work provide a better experience for the user?

  • Is there a way to eliminate unnecessary steps or processes?

  • Is this truly what the user wants?
